Create an API Key

API Keys are used to authenticate requests to the Render Compute API service. You can create your first API Key by following these steps:

1. Sign In to the Render Compute Console

1. Open your web browser and navigate to the Render Compute Console.
2. Click "Sign in with OTOY" and sign in with your OTOY account credentials.

Note

If this is your first time signing in, you may be prompted with "Authorize Zernet to use your account?" Click "Authorize" to proceed.

If you don't have an OTOY account, you can create one by visiting the OTOY website.

2. Create an API Key

1. In the Render Compute Console, navigate to the "API Keys" section.
2. Click the "Create API Key" button.
3. Set a name for your API Key. This can be anything that helps you identify the key's purpose.
4. Select the permissions you want to grant this API Key. You can choose a preset permission set or select custom permissions based on your needs.
5. Optionally, you can set an expiration date for the API Key. If you do not set an expiration date, the key will remain valid indefinitely.
6. Optionally, you can set allowed IP addresses. This restricts the API Key to requests originating from the specified IP addresses. By default, the API Key will be valid from any IP address.

3. Store Your API Key Securely

After creating the API Key, the API Key details will be displayed on the screen.

Important

Make sure to copy your API Key public_key and secret_key and store them in a secure location.

You won't be able to see the secret_key again after you leave the API Key details page.
